Chase Percentage 2026

How often the batter swings at a pitch outside the strike zone. Also called O-Swing%. MLBDB counts delivered pitches, including bunts. Missing results show N/A; zone rates require at least 95% location coverage. For 2018 through 2024, MLBDB estimates pitch locations inside or outside the zone using recorded coordinates and batter zone heights. From 2025, MLB's recorded zone labels are used. These locations do not describe the umpire's call.

Understanding Chase Percentage

Formula: 100 × swings outside the zone ÷ pitches outside the zone

Read rates alongside playing time. A small sample can produce an extreme result, and a missing value is different from zero.

Season rankings use regular-season records. A player has one combined row across teams; the team label identifies the associated team, not a separate team stint.
